devices delayed when appearing for AirDrop

When one taps on AirDrop in the Share Sheet, you are shown available target devices.

Usually, devices signed into the same Apple ID display near immediately.

But it seems if the origin device is running an older version of iPadOS, let's say 16.3.1, this device takes longer to display available MacOS target devices running a more recent 16.4.
